All you need to know about Microblading

You’ve probably already heard about Microblading (because you’re here!) but may wish to learn a bit more about the treatment before you proceed for yourself.

Hopefully this article will help you build a better understanding of semi-permanent brows so you can confidently take the next step to beautiful eyebrows.

Introduction to Norwich Microblading

Amazing eyebrows are everywhere nowadays, you literally can’t get away from them on Instagram or other social media platforms. You may have found yourself trawling through before and after results which is actually a great way to see the difference a great set of brows can make to your overall appearance.

Obsession with microbladed eyebrows is pretty much unavoidable! Once you start you can’t stop (a bit like a popular crisp brand…sorry!) and you’ll find yourself checking out every good set of brows you see in your day to day life.

It’s not hard to see why. Microbladed brows are incredible. They look highly natural, fuller, define your face and are affordable.

Gone are the days of pencilling in your brows every day, only to worry about whether you got the shape wrong. Semi-permanent brows provide a hassle-free solution to all those hours wasted drawing them on yourself.

Sounds good, but what actually is Microblading?

Well, a completely custom approach is taken with every single brow client. The artist will adjust the shape so it suits the customer’s face precisely.

A tool is used which has a sloped blade full of tiny needles at the end – but don’t worry, these don’t actually pierce the skin. Instead, they gently scratch the surface in order to apply the pigment.

These tiny needles use a medical grade pigment to create beautiful, natural-looking hairstrokes which are unrecognisable from your real hairs.

Is eyebrow tattoo and Microblading the same thing?

In a word, no. Microblading does not penetrate deep into the skin. Instead, pigment is applied close to the surface and the treatment is considered semi-permanent.

This provides you with greater flexibility as you’ll be able to adjust your brows in the future if you want to.

Eyebrow tattoos are permanent which can be risky if you ever want to change them. I remember the days where super-thin eyebrows were the trend, whereas nowadays you may want to opt for fuller brows. With tattooing, this flexibility is taken away somewhat.

Tattooing requires a ‘buzzing’ needle which penetrates deep into the layers of the skin and can be painful. Microblading is a far less invasive and therefore less painful treatment.

What is the Microblading process?

First off the area is cleaned thoroughly using antiseptic wipes.

Now it’s time for mapping. I take a great deal of care on this stage and use a specially designed PhiBrows artist app and other measurement tools to guarantee the perfect shape for your face. The shape is calculated using the famed Golden Ratio to ensure the best possible result. Once you’re happy with the mapping we’ll move on to plucking.

We can now begin the microblading. I’ll draw every individual hairstroke to create your new brows! There are two passes in total. Anaesthetic is applied following the first pass.

Finally, we’ll add a layer of pigment across the whole area. I like to leave this on for at least 5 minutes to allow it to properly penetrate before cleaning it off.

Your microbladed brows are now complete – you’ll have the best brows you’ve ever had.

I’ve heard about a top up appointment – what is it?

I strongly recommend all clients come back for a top up normally after 4-8 weeks. As a PhiBrows qualified artist, I consider this appointment to be part of the treatment and is essential. It allows me to evaluate your brows and add any additional strokes or shading if required. Simply pop along to my studio in Horsford, Norwich, Norfolk when you’re ready and we’ll carry out your top up.

How long will my brows last?

This is the good part – they will generally last around a year minimum. That’s right, a year! They can last up to 2 years but the duration depends on a number of factors such as how well you follow the aftercare advice and your skin type.

How much does it cost?

At The Brow Clinic we want to bring this treatment to everyone so tend to charge in the region of £275 including the top up appointment. Please note our charging may vary depending on what offers and discounts are available at the time of booking. Make sure you’re 100% clear on the pricing with us before your treatment begins.
